Making Your Mark with Digital Marketing During and After COVID-19

Making Your Mark with Digital Marketing During and After COVID-19

Make no mistake that social media marketing, SEO, and web development were important before the Coronavirus outbreak—but they are becoming even more critical than ever before as we rapidly adjust to the changing landscape.

It’s no secret that your customers are consuming more media during stay-at-home orders, ranging from videos to browsing websites.

If you have yet to have an online presence, it’s time to make a fast and important decision to increase your online footprint.

If you’ve stuck to a digital marketing strategy for a while, it’s also time to up your game.

After presenting at a Zoom meeting with over 200 attendees, I’m sharing how you can enhance your digital marketing presence during and after COVID-19.

How you present yourself on social media during COVID-19 can make or break your business now and in the future.

There are a variety of platforms that can make a difference in your business with social media marketing, such as the following:

Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest

With 2.5 billion monthly active users, a Facebook business page can help you reach new customers and build your brand online. This can be accomplished organically or via paid ads.

Sharing relevant and timely content can help you grow your Facebook presence. Be sure to include images in your posts, as they can bring 2.3 times the amount of engagement vs. posts without images.

Video content is another highly engaging media type for Facebook, which brings a human touch to your business. You can pre-record videos to post on Facebook or you can try your hand at Facebook Live for a Q&A. Engagement rates with videos on Facebook are the highest of all media, coming in at 13.9%.

Instagram is owned by Facebook and offers another way to reach your audience, especially if you take a lot of high-quality photos. You can also incorporate Pinterest with high-quality photos for your marketing, especially for businesses in industries such as home improvement, interior design, and fitness.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is best suited for B2B businesses, but it can give you a compelling and competitive edge in your industry.

This platform is powerful for building new connections and growing your network. It’s important to send out connection requests with custom notes, which can increase the likelihood for others to accept your request.

Just like Facebook, you can grow your business by incorporating video. Keep in mind that LinkedIn’s style of video and content is a different approach than what you’ll find on Facebook. Using your Facebook strategy on LinkedIn won’t necessarily yield you the best results.

According to Orberlo, this is the list of the most popular social media platforms in 2019. Attempting to be on all platforms is not recommended, as it requires a strategic approach to know the best fit for your business. A digital marketing company such as 2B Unique can help you navigate these platforms and find out what’s best for you.

Using Web Development as a Marketing Vessel

In 2020, nearly every company should have a website. Custom web development can make an incredible impact on your business, grow your branding efforts, and even establish credibility.

Your website is a perfect hub for lead generation, SEO, and content marketing efforts. Think of your website as the online ‘house’ for your business, where all of your marketing connects and sends traffic to help increase sales.

What type of website do you need? A brochure-style website is essentially an overview of your products and services. It should include a professional copy that drives users to take action. Even a one-page website can do the trick as long as it looks professional, up-to-date, and is mobile friendly.

Remember that your website can contain a lot more than just basic information about your company. In fact, it’s highly encouraged that B2B and B2C companies have blogs on their websites.

Start a Company Blog

A company blog is an essential piece of the puzzle for a strategic digital marketing effort. It’s easy to set up a new blog, and you can do so with a free platform such as WordPress.

Blogging is a powerful marketing tool for a variety of reasons. It’s one of the key pieces of content you can use for targeting keywords and boosting your SEO. It’s important to do a keyword refresh every few months to make sure you are taking advantage of new terms and trends.

A blog can also help you fill up your social media marketing calendar. A lot of companies struggle over knowing what to post on social media, and a blog can easily help fill in the gaps.

Keep in mind that blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s a long-term commitment that takes time to see results.

Master Email Marketing

Email marketing gives an incredible return on investment. Since you are sending messages to an audience who already subscribed to your blog or newsletter, they are waiting to hear from you!

You can get started with email marketing with platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact. These applications have templates where you can build your own email while adding images and content. You can change font styles, add photos, and even provide links to your social media profiles.

The platforms also provide you with sign-up form codes for your website. You can add the sign-up form to the bottom of your blog, your homepage, or connect it to a landing page that offers a downloadable freebie.

Create a Video Campaign

Lastly, we can’t forget the power and importance of video creation. YouTube is the second-largest search engine and the third most-visited website worldwide, trailing behind Facebook and Google.

Video campaigns can be used on YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more. It helps customers remember your brand and services, with viewers retaining 95% of a message after they see it on video.

Not only can you use video on social media, but it’s also an excellent type of media to embed on your website. In fact, videos on your website can help customers stay on your page longer, as 88% of people spend more time browsing websites with video content.

The best news is that you don’t necessarily need high-tech equipment to get started. Using a smartphone with a high-quality camera, a tripod, and a video editor can get your video campaign up-and-running.
